المؤرخ في 23 رمضان عام 1401 الموافق 25 يوليو سنة 1981 والمذكور أعلاه، في طبيعتها القانونية إلى مؤسسة ذات طابع صناعي وتجاري، تسمى “الوكالة الوطنية للموارد المائية”، وتدعى في صلب النص “الوكالة” وهذا بموجب المرسوم التنفيذي رقم 19ـ184 المؤرخ في 23 شعبان 1440 الموافق 29 أبريل سنة 2019.
تتمثل المهمة الرئيسية للوكالة الوطنية للموارد المائية وفقًا لأهداف سياسة التنمية الوطنية ووفقًا للشروط التي تحددها السلطة الإشرافية في إعداد الجرد وخريطة التربة الموجهة للتثمين عن طريق السقي وصرف المياه وضمان متابعة تطورها.
